Pediatric Advanced Life Support (ASHI PALS)
ASHI PALS program is a scenario (case-based) continuing education course intended for trained and skilled healthcare providers who either direct or participate in cardiopulmonary and resuscitation emergencies in children. Based on the official text of the program, PALS Study Guide, 4th Edition by Barbara J Aehlert RN BSPA, PALS provides students with an opportunity to enhance and refine their knowledge and hands-on skill proficiency in emergency cardiovascular care. This pediatric advanced life support training program confirms to the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC
Prerequisites
All individuals who participate in an ASHI PALS class must be previously trained, skilled, and be able to:
Perform high-quality pediatric basic life support (PBLS)
Read and interpret basic electrocardiograms (ECG)
Understand basic resuscitation pharmacology, prepare and administer essential medications
Required For Successful Completion (Certification)

Successfully complete five performance evaluations, three PBLS and two PALS:
High-quality infant BLS
High-quality child BLS
Bag mask ventilation
Respiratory or shock case management

Key changes in pediatric advanced life support, reflecting the new science from the 2015 ASHI & AHA Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care
1- and 2-rescuer child CPR and AED use
1- and 2-rescuer infant CPR
Management of respiratory emergencies
